A fairly convincing argument based on Child Development research that Descarte was only codifying what every child knows when he described the mind/body split.  Children are initially clear on this split, though when exposed to the idea of the brain, they tend to start saying things like "My brain is something that helps me to think", indicating the same kind of confused quasi-physical dualism that is common in adults today.
